 One Day is a film directed by Lone Scherfig. It was adapted by David Nicholls from his 2009 novel of the same name. It stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Focus Features released the film theatrically in August 2011.


Emma Morley (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter Mayhew (Jim Sturgess) meet after their graduation from the University of Edinburgh on 15 July 1988.

Is a relationship between Emma and Dexter meant to be together. Graduation night are known in the college, July 15, 1988, and spend the whole day together without imagining that eventually forged a friendship between them that will last a lifetime. The film follows a timeline that connects the two protagonists on the same day throughout the years. Both protagonists are unaware that this day enclose a special meaning to them, sometimes encountering as very significant moments in their life becomings and sometimes with sheer ordinariness. The film is an example of how true love prevails in adversity and time. Not even death can stop it, because it remains forever in the memory.
